In this lesson we will learn how to talk about the character of a person. Learning about someone's character is important in getting to know them.

There are several ways that a person’s character can be described.
Let us begin by defining what character is. Character can be defined as someone’s personality or temperament.
Let’s begin by looking at some words which can be used to describe a person’s character. Repeat after me.
Words/Short Phrases Please, feel free to repeat after me.
Brave (once more, repeat) brave. Brave means showing courage. Brave people can sometimes be described as being heroes.
Kind (once more, repeat) kind. Kind means being gentle and showing good nature towards others.
Friendly (once more, repeat) friendly. Someone who is friendly likes to talk to others and make them feel welcome.
Generous (once more, repeat) generous. A generous person shares time or things.
Shy (once more, repeat) shy. A shy person is uneasy with new people or crowds.
Smart (once more, repeat) smart. Smart means having a good mental capacity. Another word for smart is intelligent.
Vain (once more, repeat) vain. Vain means to care deeply about one’s appearance.
Polite (once more, repeat) polite. Polite means to show good manners.
Grumpy (once again, repeat) grumpy. Someone who is grumpy has a nasty personality. They can also be described as grouchy or ill-natured.
Rude (once again, repeat) rude. Rude means being not polite.

- That was unkind of him.
- He had a grumpy expression on his face.
- Not everyone is friendly.
Example 2:
- Was the teacher helpful?
- Yes, she was generous with her time, and helped me at recess.
- Good, do you feel smarter.
- Yes, I think that I will pass my spelling test.
- Good, I am glad that you are surrounded by kind people at your school.
